Matthew Linton approaches each case as if he were the client himself, drawing on his own experience as the founder of an internet media and publishing company. Having run his own business, Matthew understands that clients need to address legal issues comprehensively, but still have companies to run, facilities to manage, employees to engage, and professional practices to maintain. His experience helps his clients balance the needs of their business while managing legal issues with efficiency and economy. Along the way, Matthew utilizes his experience as a law clerk to Chief Justice Mary Mullarkey of the Colorado Supreme Court to ensure an acute understanding of the legal issues his clients face.
With a practice focused on litigation, appeals, and risk management for business, particularly technology companies, healthcare organizations, and professionals operating legal and medical practices, Matthew is recognized by his colleagues as a lawyer whose business background helps him craft innovative legal strategies that advance his clients’ positions in the short-term while aiding their longer-term business objectives. At the same time, Matthew’s focused and critical legal analysis skills ensure his ability to defend or prosecute his client’s position in numerous areas of litigation.
As a technology counsel, Matthew provides insight into current legal and technological trends as they relate to electronic discovery, networking, email archiving, privacy compliance, electronic medical records, teleradiology, remote, computer-assisted medical procedures, and more.
Most recently, Matthew:
- Successfully argued to the Colorado Court of Appeals in an action involving a business partnership dispute;
- Successfully defended a legal malpractice claim for a client who had represented the plaintiff in a real estate transaction;
- Successfully conceived and drafted argument of first impression to trial court in medical malpractice action resulting in case’s dismissal.
In addition to his commercial, malpractice, and appellate work, Matthew’s practices in the areas of constitutional law, civil rights, and free speech.
